Retro-inspired fireplaces like that are so interesting isn’t it.  Runs on clean burning ethanol,  puts out a toasty 5,800 BTUs and is safe for indoor or outdoor use.  Could be the answer for people like us with no fireplace at home and has cold winter nights and days.  A bit pricey but you don’t have to do any major renovation to keep warm – plus if you have power company like ours here – it would be definitely a great investment on days when you don’t have any heat at all.

These lighted gift boxes are so expensive everywhere – I’ve decided to make them myself – a DIY project for this Christmas.  May not be using the same material but I think I can do it.  A little bit of time needed but I think it is worth it – especially if I can re-sell it.

Materials and Tools:

12 narrow, squared sticks of desired length

transparent fabric or wrapping paper
string of lights
floral wire
wood glue sticks
nail gun
ribbon to make a bow

1. Glue the sticks together to create a box-shape  frame. Secure it with a nail gun where needed.

Steps:

2. Use a razor to scrape off excess glue that beads up between sticks.

3. Once box is complete, arrange string of lights inside the box and secure them with floral wire. Crisscross the lights across the middle of the box and attach them at the corners.

4. Wrap the box on all sides with fabric or wrapping paper. Chose something transparent so that the lights can shine through Trim the excess material with scissors.

5. Wrap the box in a festive bow.

I was visiting a friend’s house during Christmas and one of the kids fell and scrapped his knees – I had asked where the medicine cabinet was -  and my girlfriend said she didn’t have one !!!  *slap forehead* .  Every home needs one -  medicine cabinets I mean of course!   especially if you have kids at home!!  so for those who don’t already have a medicine cabinet – please go get one – and fill it up – you can never be too careful.  My friend had to drive out to the pharmacy to get some stuff to stop the bleeding and all.   So yes!  please go out and get a medicine cabinet now!!!

Fall is definitely here – it’s darn cold at night !  last night – we had to get out our heated blanket and I thought this year I was going to brave it out – but when you have a kid – you kinda need to keep her warm regardless how much you want to save in power bills.   We are just glad that we switched to use heated blankets instead of heating up the entire room – because power is very expensive in this part of the world.    It is absolutely safe – even though i had my reservations when I first came to Canada.  They now have heated gloves as well – which is a great thing – to have especially if you need to shovel as much as we do during winter.  Winter is really hard here – that’s the only thing i don’t like about living in Canada!

While the spouse love the contemporary sofas – I love the modern sofas , not only does it need to be comfy – the design of a sofa is very important to me too.   And since I watch a lot of movies as you can see – I need something good.  The basement is finally cleaned up and we are getting ready to move the living room furniture to the basement where the spouse will have his tv/game room.  So I am looking out for some sleek looking sofas – and I’m interested in the above – what do you think?  I actually prefer – a different color – because my living room is earthy in color – so I’m gonna write to them and see if they have a different color – wish me luck with my new sofa.

Have you ever tried watching a movie in bed?  or a tv show?  or play a game ?  or even use your laptop to work – while the kid or spouse play a game in your bedroom?  I have – i tried all 3 and what happened?  it does not work!!!!!  no matter what you do – or how much pillows you use behind your back – it is never comfy – and can you imagine laying on your tummy and playing a game – the POOR KIDS!!!  So if you ever want to watch a movie/tv show in bed – you have to consider an adjustable bed.  So we went looking around at some adjustable beds because that’s the only way – the spouse and I can do things together in one room – instead of one in the living room and another in the computer room.   This will in fact save us a lot of money during the winter – whereby you only need to heat up one room instead of two.   Plus really an adjustable bed is the only way one can watch tv comfortably without straining your neck.   So you see all the benefits – save money on heat bills – health issues and spending together time with the spouse and kids.  Yes an investment but i think it’s worth it – what do you think?

Gem Of Life Episode 21, I know we are all waiting to watch it… but no one seems to have the link to it yet.  What a bummer!!!!  i’m done watching When Easterly Showers Falls On The Sunny West Episode 16 and Off Pedder Episode 21 and even almost done watching the first part of TVB Award Show..!!

This show is weird..!!  and in my humble opinion..  for what it is worth..  M. Night Shyamalan should stop making movies.  It’s getting weirder everytime.  When i saw the preview of it.. i thought it was good.. and then a few of our customers told me that this was a good movie.. so i watched it last nite.. and was really disappointed by it.

Oh my God..  *slap forehead* . .it is so boring.. and at the end of the movie.. it started all over again.. and unexplainable.. as well.  Well.. they did have an explanation.. but it sure sounded ludicrous to me.  Don’t watch it.. if you do.. yer just wasting your money.

A girlfriend of mine living in Dallas had this outside her cottage or holiday house.  She bought this from a reputable store and asked me what i thought about it.. when she sent me this picture.  I don’t know what to say .. to be honest with you.  Moving to Dallas from San Fransisco because  jobs in Dallas were very enticing for her spouse and she wanted to raise her kids in a traditional environment but boy..!! has her taste changed since.  As much as I am very happy for her.. i wouldn’t go as far as to tell her i liked the goat head.. if you know what I mean.  So i told her it was different… and quickly changed the subject.  What about you ..??  would you put a goat head on your door..??  or what would you say .. if you were asked.. by a g/f of yours..?

This is something that we definitely need.  With a kid in school now..  and it isn’t everyday she has to be in school because she is either sick. .or the school is on some kinda of holiday.. or public holiday, this alarm clock lets you set the time you have to wake up everyday.  And on the weekends.. well you donch have to shut it off.. because you can set it for a later time.  You only need to set your alarm .. once and never have to worry about the normal days.  At $35 .. i think this is a great investment.  It also has a snoozer .. and a nap timer and comes with a AM;/FM radio..!  get it at ThinkGeek.

Yes..! if you had been reading my blog.. you would know how crazy .. i am about watching my chinese movies.  The man.. had been buying them for me.. but not fast enough… so i sometimes look them up on the net.  The only disadvantage about watching it on the net is, i’ve gotta be on the computer.. instead of my tv room. .where i’ve got all the comfort of a big couch.. 2 bars with bar sinks, one for the kids . .and the other for the man.  And air con of course.. during the hot summer nites.

Definitely more fun than the ones i have at home for my brat. I don’t know about other kids.. but mine.. she won’t go near those electrical plugs even with a 10 inch pole .. so i’m pretty sure..she won’t take them off..and play with them. But i can’t say the same for other kids, so buy at your own risk, although it is supposed to be used to keep the kids/toddlers/babies fingers from the hole of the electrical socket. Comes in a red dog, blue cat, green elephant and orange sheep, check Decor Craft Inc to buy them, comes in a set of 8. Decor Craft is in Rhode Island.. Providence..!! woohoo..!! i know where it is..!!

It is definitely a must to change our coffee tables when we had our kid. In fact, we were so paranoid.. that we put thick towels .. on the 4 corners .. as soon as she was born and we couldn’t find any that we liked at that time. But now that she is 4.5 yrs old.. and we use a lounge ottoman for a coffee table, we still think that it is the best thing that we’ve done.. for her.. coz’ you know how kids are.. they just love to bump into any corners they can find.. and the 4 corners of a normal coffee table is definitely not a good thing to bump into when you are 4.5 yrs old or any age.

Trust Siemens to come up with something so cute and light… and stylish. This is said to be an eco friendly handset and it is cordless..!! woohoo..!! Designed by Fromwelt and the green color leaf you see here and the solar is made outta recyclable raw materials. Solar energy is used to recharge the handsets. The display on the handset is made of translucent plastic.. very futuristic looking right..?? I like that it is eco friendly of course.. but i hope it doesn’t cost alot… eh.

I love Risotto !!  but i have a really hard time cooking it.. because you have to keep stirring it non-stop.. and make sure it doesn’t burnt.  So i have never attempted to cook Risotto… but now .. Zojiroshi has this rice cooker that doesn’t only cooked rice.. but Risotto and sushi rice too. !!  Awesome.. and absolutely smart way to go about .. especially if you are a busy working mother like I am.  For about $187 .. you can buy this online from Amazon.

Putting a tv is what we wanted when we first moved into our new home a few years ago.  But since our room isn’t very huge, we need to make sure that we maximize our space .. therefore a tv lift cabinet was bought instead of a usual stand.  It was awesome .. because with a kid now.. it is good that we can just put it away.. when we are not watching the tv.
