While Oprah was honored with an Oscar for her humanitarian work – she looked awful don’t you think ?  The once glamorous and although big looking Oprah – don’t look so pretty anymore.  Her hairstyle didn’t fit her – she put on her much more weight – her clothes didn’t fit her – the color didn’t fit her – her make up was bad.  Darn!  i guess canceling the 25 years talk show can do this to you.  Oh well – I guess it doesn’t matter too much if you have billions to your name eh.

The famous Duggar family is having their #20 baby and isn’t going to stop at that it seems.  While some people are criticizing them -  I for one – think that it’s great – if the children are getting the attention they need and they are not on any form of welfare.   Most people here in Canada have a lot of kids – like up to 6 – because of getting more money from the government.  You see in Canada – every child is entitled to a Child Benefit – and the amount depends on how much you make.  The more you make the less you get  – so if you are a single mom or dad – usually mom – you get up to $400 – $500 per child/ per month.  So you do the math.

Adele from the UK is currently Canadians’ favorite singer it seems – even the girl working at the candy store bought a Cosmo because she was on the cover.  But she is lovely – albeit a bit big – and have a lovely voice – listen to the youtube video – if you don’t know who she is or haven’t heard of her before.  But what I liked most about her – is how lovely her eye lashes are !  long and luscious and to die for – I’m sitting here wondering if she uses eyelash growth products or does she naturally have long eyelashes like that.  Some people do – like my daughter – she does have nice eyelashes but not as long and as beautiful as the ones Adele has.   Most Asians don’t have long eye lashes and we use false eye lashes to extend our lashes to make them look nicer and enticing to both the opposite sex and the same sex.  But false lashes are so tedious and needs a lot of practicing – of course – if you are Wendy Cheng – you won’t have trouble with those false eyelashes for she literally does magic with it.  But I would love to try a eyelash growth product – that is safe – and it’s never too late to look prettier – even when you are 30 or 40.   Anyhow – check out Adele and her long eyelashes – ooops!! i meant her singing.  Oh love how she dress up too

The spouse’s cousin invited us to Kitchener in October to see America’s Legend Tony Bennett – and knowing that I grew up watching Tony Bennett sing – that was so nice of him.   Tony Bennett who has earned his first number-one album at the age of 85. “Duets 2” has sold 179,000 copies its first week out, according to his label.  Tony is the oldest living act to hit number one on the Billboard album chart.  The previous record holder was Bob Dylan, who was 67 when “Together Through Life” debuted at number one in 2009.

Tony Bennett’s show in Kitchener is at Center in the Square at 7.30pm on 26 October and tickets were said to go for at least $120 – so I’ve decided to get some Dutch Masters as a gift for the cousin to reciprocate – and also because I know he like cigars a lot.  And since I can get them so cheap and good – why not right?  no one refuses a gift of cigar – because they think I must have spent a lot of money for them.  Little do they know that I have my little secret place to get them at a good price.

So Gossip Girls is back this week – and already they have big stars like Elizabeth Hurley in the first episode.  So who is pregnant this time?   Will Sabrina’s “cousin” return this season? or will Hurley remain in the entire 5th season? So why did Dan not let Blair Waldorf thinks that it was her Prince who stood her up and not mentioned anything about getting the prince to help stop the magazine?  what is going on there?  was he trying to sabotage their wedding?    Yes! i loved gossips girls and can’t get enough of it.

So SouthWest said that they are a family airline – so Lesbians kissing wasn’t alright with them – and they booted Lesbian Star – Leisha Hailey outta the plane with her partner.  I really don’t blame Leisha for being mad and bitching about it – but then again – were they kissing kissing – or doing more than that?  Well, we will never know will we?  But yes – if you are on a honeymoon or very much in love – better stay away from South West Airline?   But couldn’t have South West Airline handled it better ?  or maybe Leisha was being diva like on the airplane?  Well, there is always 2 sides to a coin right?  I’m sure everyone wants to be right here -  but will South West lose some passengers because of bad publicity?  I don’t really think so – since they are willing to work with the star personally to resolve the issue.

So I’ve attended several weddings already this summer and everyone showing off their diamond ring making me go blind soon – hahah!  but yes – rumor has it in early july – that this summer is going to be the wedding of the year for Angelina Jolie as well as Brad Pitt – doesn’t seems to be happening.   But I’m sure that if it does happen – her diamond ring – is going to be the biggest ever – after all both Angelina and Brad can certainly afford unique and the biggest diamond solitaire right?  So what is with diamonds and the women – the spouse asked – I think it’s because they are rare stone and it shows eternal love for the woman?  But weddings in the summer is the best – because the bride can wear just about anything – because it’s warmer here – and if you are a slim looking bride – you’ve got so much choice.  Anyhow – do you think Brad and Angelina is going to get married this summer?  I don’t think so – since they have been together for so long – but I’m sure they don’t need a wedding to buy a diamond ring – that I’m sure is every woman’s dream – I too would love to be able to walk into a jewelry store to get a diamond ring every time I am happy.  But I’m happy most times – so I’ll have to be darn rich – or the spouse will be darn poor.

New releases for English movies comes out on every Tuesdays – and since we are a movie rental store – we have to print out copies of the cover for the new releases for the rental boxes that we send out with the customers – that way – they don’t return the wrong movies in the wrong case.  We have a laserjet that uses  laserjet ink cartridges that we use for printing the covers and been using it for years now – and we get our ink cartridges and toner for our fax machine  from a place in the mall or we can order them online.  We try to print covers for all our movies including the blu-ray ones and sometimes when someone sells us a game without the original box – we can use the laserjet to print out the cover as well.  It does a pretty good job – and we are quite happy with it.   At our store, we rent our movies for $3 for normal dvd and $4 for blu  – ray disc -  you can beat us for princes that’s for sure.

This show wasn’t what I had expected but quite funny and hilarious – below is the synopsis – but for more on the show – follow the birdie.   But since it is Robert Downey Jr – i do like him – so therefore I watched it.  In some scenes it was just gross big time.  But the story wraps around Peter played by Robert Downey and a guy he met in the airport.  Aspiring actor – Ethan Tremblay not even his real name – but a stage name – kept Peter’s wallet after they both got kicked off the airline and went on the no fly list.  Peter got beaten up by a handicapped veteran who worked in Western Union because Peter was frustrated on took it out on him – with Ethan not of a big help either.  The movie took a turn at the end – and you won’t be expecting the ending – so watch it – and have some good laugh.

Master sorcerer Balthazar Blake recruits a seemingly everyday guy in his mission to defend New York City from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is a 2010 fantasy adventure film – a family movie I would say – since it’s a Walt Disney Pictures.  Parts of the story are loosely based on the Sorcerer’s Apprentice segment in Disney’s Fantasia, which in turn is based on the late 1890s symphonic poem.

Balthaza Blake played by Nicolas Cage is a sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan fighting against the forces of evil, in particular his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath, while searching for the person who will inherit Merlin’s powers.  This turns out to be nerdy Dave Stutler – who looks nothing special nor has any special physique on him – too ordinary in my humble opinion.  A physics student in NYU, Balthazar takes him as his protege.  A crash course later – Dave brings science and magic together to stop Morgana from raising the dead and destroying the world.

I was just looking thru’ some Hong Kong magazines and saw some places that celebrities lived in – and boy! you gotta admire them.  From the huge space to the decor – and the home furnishing – all tastefully picked.  I love the kitchen best – why? because when we were decorating our home – I chose one that was in a magazine and followed it really closely.   Afterall, you can’t really go wrong can you ?  I even read about how they had refrigerator filter for their fridge and also all the tips about keeping their fridge neat and storing their fruits and food.  My water is clean and clearer and doesn’t taste like chlorine anymore – yipeee!!  thanks to all these celebs – they do have good tips – or do they have good designers for them home?  What about you?  do you read and take advice from magazines you read?

So I’ve just finished watching Sex and the City 2 last night – well – lets just say – I missed them in the movies but am glad I found it online and watched it.  Was I disappointed?  kinda !  because – it was supposed to be hotter – sexier and better than the first one – but I think I liked the first one a lot more.  And did you see the clothing that the ladies wore?  Not just cardigan sweaters but really glamorous clothing even when they were in Abu Dhabi.  We know that Jessica Parker has some outrageous clothing but this time round – just about everyone has outrageous fashion – in such hot, hot weather – in the middle of the dessert and riding a camel’s back.  Tell me about outrageous! but for me – I loved the first sex and the city movie more – but the tv sitcom was much better.

But what’s more outrageous were the Abu Dhabi women wearing Louis Vuitton underneath all their cover up?  mannnn!!!  how can they take the heat right?  If i were in Abu Dhabi – i would be wearing light sweaters, jeans and open knitted cardigan for the evenings because i hear it gets cold then.  But sorry no shiny Michael Jackson’s shoulder pats that Kim Cattrall had in the disco/Karaoke pleaseeee!! that is just so 80s!!   Don’t get me wrong – i love the glamor dresses like the night gown that Jessica Parker wore at the end of the show – when they were watching this black and white movie – because it’s just so right.  But if i were traveling and going on a camel – sorry ladies – i want something really comfy and no high heels for me in the sand – just quite ridiculous if you asked me.  What do you think?  don’t hate me for giving my opinion but i’m no fashion critic but just someone who loves Sex and the City.

I love Weeds! you love Weeds?  the show silly!!  i just saw a sneak peek of it – so those who haven’t on screen yet – follow the birdie for a sneak peek eh.

Fans of Different Strokes from years ago – or grew up watching midget like Gary Coleman are going to miss him.  I grew up watching Different Strokes as a teenager – and yes I do like the smart ass kid in the show.  But Gary Coleman didn’t grow old well – in my humble opinion.  Some said that even the  best acne treatment wouldn’t cure Gary’s attitude.

He was 42 when he died in the hospital after a fall – the fall resulted to some hemorrhage or bleeding in his brain.  He then went into a coma and was on life support.  His wife – Shannon Price then made the decision to take the life support off early morning.  Poor Gary – had been accused of abusing his wife constantly – just a few months ago – he was also asked the same question on air.  There were also debt involved and a few other things going on with Gary Coleman’s life before he died.  But he will be missed and he did provide me with hours of entertainment when i was a kid – for that I thank him.

I was actually told by a friend that this was a good movie – so of course – i had to go look out for it.  I thought that since this is like a kidnap and murder movie – i might need sleeping pills the night i watch it – because i’m a wuss – yes! yes! i admit it.  But fear no more because i’ve watched the show – although it got some tense in some parts of the movie – it wasn’t scary at all. Not suitable for young kids – cause you don’t want to scare them – that they might be kidnapped and never return home.  But i thought the movie was a little flimsy .. if you know what i mean.  So dreamy most times – that doesn’t really serve it purpose. And why would Rachel Weisz leave the family to grief – when Susan Sarandon was a drunk in this show.  Makes no sense.  But overall, it’s not a bad movie – so if you want to watch the sneak preview or have the full synopsis… follow the birdie.
