Crazy Chinese Woman

Buying  netbook computers were the best investment for someone who watches chinese shows on youtube.   I was kinda surprised that I even found some movies on youtube !  and netbooks are the bomb to have – because they are light weight and they certainly are great travel companion if you need to take an hour train to work everyday.  I know that everyone on the train was looking at my netbook while I was L’ Escargot Episode 22 this morning on my netbook computer.  And yes, I did find it very early on the net today – strange eh.  But it was good because the show is getting so exciting  – I’m wondering what would happen to Lok Lok and Joyce and Ron – of course I don’t want Joyce to get hurt – and hope Ron would do the right thing even though Joyce brother was quite despicable.   So for those who wants to yak with me about the show -  follow the birdie and leave a comment there not here.  Follow the birdie – or the movie icon on the left hand side of this page and leave a comment.  But if you are from Asia – I’m sorry – I don’t think I can do anything for you – because the show just don’t work for asia IP.  See you on the other blog.

These days – I’m crazy over vintage stuff – I think I must be watching too many Pawn Star shows lately – and hoping to strike rich perhaps from a vintage thing that Imight accidentally acquire.  Well, a girl can always hope right?  but those who remember typing on an Olivetti typewriter while going thru’ a secretarial course – now these typewriter must bring back some good memories right?   They don’t even have secretarial courses here – and I don’t believe they have it in Asia either – but I could be wrong.  But I remember going to Tanglin Shopping Center and finishing my secretarial school – so that I can do shorthand and do minutes – hahah! those were the days.  Anyhow, if you are like myself – you can get one of these vintage typewriters for about $500 – and if they were any cheaper – I would be tempted to get one – but with $500 – I could get a cheap laptop for my kid – so no thank you in the meantime – but for those interested – check out FAB for purchasing them.

Last year Christmas, the cousins received some new games for their xbox 360 and they were very happy with it – so they invited my kid to go over and have some fun with their jeux xbox but my kid was a bit hesitant because the other side of the family were Acadian french  – so they all spoke in french.  My daughter worried that she might be left out in conversations didn’t want to go but when she saw that it was the xbox 360 games that she loved to play – she was gung-ho once again to go.  So we went back to the store – to get some extra xbox 360 controllers for her – and another game so that she can introduce her xbox 360 games to her cousins.  Just Dance 3 was the xbox 360 game that she brought along with her – and guess what ?  the kids had such a great time last week – they are doing it all over again.  Woohoo!! free time for this mummy alirght!

Winter suxs!  and if you needed to do anything outdoors with your hands during winter – you need your gloves but what if you needed to open the door with your key or answer a phone or text message someone because you can’t find them in the car park?  Yes! you have to take off your gloves else you will be standing outdoors in the cold and even with your winter jacket and ear muffs – it can be a bitch!

Yes! definitely fancy !  earlier this year I had bought a Keurig and loved it – but I think I’m ready to upgrade to a more sophisticated machine – an xpresso machine is what I’m looking for.  Although I would love one that grinds the coffee in the same machine – this is a lot easier to use – it comes in already prepared cup form – and it’s only 2 steps to it.  Very convenient if you asked me but note the price of a X7 iperEspresso Set Red – I guess only the serious coffee drinker will fork out about $300 for a machine – but it will impress your clients/friends and even family.  Currently for sale at a really good price from FAB.com  – check it out. Come in black or red color – I prefer the red – although I was given a black one to test.

The spouse wants to turn the basement into a home theatre after Christmas when the store isn’t so busy – and although I don’t know much about it – I won’t stop him from doing what he wants – for he sure earned it.  He had been working hard this year – and been saving some money for some Energy speakers and a bigger plasma tv.   As for me and the children – we are not too fussy about the sound systems – as long as we can hear sounds – it’s fine with us – but the spouse – now he has other ideas of course.  He cannot use the speakers from the tv itself – it has to be external speakers – and as long as I have known him – he has always had external speakers for his home.  I let him do what he wants – because he does it himself and never asked for help.

Why do I say that?  because this is not your ordinary alarm clock !  this one jumps out of your night stand and rolls around your bedroom – so that you have to get up and hit the snooze button  – and not let you fall asleep again.   Pretty neat right?  you can play your favorite MP3 music or use the built in microphone to record some crazy get up shouting to wake you up or the kids -  I bet that would be crazy funny!   And who say you can show tough love with a little bit of charm!

For less than $40 – you can buy a desktop football machine – just for fun.  It’s small I have to tell you -and needs to be on a table – or a flat surface.  But one can always have hours of fun – with a smaller kid – great for a birthday or Christmas present and great for those who don’t have a basement to put their real fooseball table in. I want one of those is located in UK, Wales – so you luck in if you are in UK – but of course, I’m sure they will send anything if you pay for shipping.

So my kid is expecting a new bird to join her favorite game on her dad’s iPhone – Angry Bird.  Although it was announced  – we don’t know what it will looked like – but she is excited and can’t wait to see the new bird.  So if you are like the millions who also plays the angry birds look out for the new bird soon.

Apple co-founder – Steve Job passed away yesterday and yes it was shocking to me – because he was only 56 yrs old.  Too young to die – especially someone who is so brilliant and has so much to offer the world.  Even though I’m not a Mac user – I do use Apple’s products like the iPods, iPod touch and also the iPads.  So yes!  I’m indeed shocked, sad and it made me think of my own life – I’m sure no one expects to die so young – hell! no one wants to die that young.   But Job had lost a lot of weight recently and even though he put on a very brave front whenever he was in public – one never know eh.  I think the world wasn’t prepared for this – because we all knew he was taking his health issue seriously – to the extend of stepping down and letting Cook take over the day to day running of the company.  But yes! it made me sit up and think about my life too – am I doing what is right by myself and my family.  I don’t want to go and regret not doing right by them.  What about you?

Now why didn’t they make something like this when my kid was younger – that way, she can go for rides with her dolly – and not have us tie the poor dolly to the front of her tricycle since the tricycle is too small to have a basket.  Plus it’s a great way to teach your kid to share with the neighbor’s kid – for both kid can jump on the tricycle and ride together but I’m sure they will also fight as to who is to be in the front – unless the other kid is younger and don’t know any better (like my daughter liked to say) – hahaha!! anyhow – this tricycle made for 2 is at $299 – way to expensive in my opinion – but if parents wants to have the siblings play together and entertain themselves it would be a great investment.   I like that the rubber wheels are thicker than the usual tricycle – but I guess it had to be made this way for stability.  One can buy this tricycle at Hammacher and Schlemmer.

The spouse normally have his iPhone in his back pocket and when he gets into his car and drive – it’s so inconvenient to get to it when he is driving or even when we are shopping.  Getting this Sunbrella iPhone case for him for Christmas  – may be the best thing I’ve gotten for him in a long time – because as you can see – it can be fitted onto the jeans or a bag – with the carabiner that is provided.  Plus the Sunbrella is known durable material and the colors stays brighter and fresher for longer.  The fabric is thick but soft  – the blue and grey colors are a great fit for guys.  So I’m getting it – at $24.30 USD – I found this on Strapya World and they do worldwide shipping.

The girlfriends in the States are all talking about the Kindle Fire – which is going on sale at $199 but darn!  it’s not for those living in Canada!  what a bummer!  but as expected – since we had to get our Kindle last year during Christmas thru’ a friend in the US and then got her to mail it to us.   Suxs! for us Canadians right?  but those in the USA – you can pre-order yours now and get yours mailed to you for free in November 2011.

So what is this Kindle Fire you asked – well – it’s supposed to work just like the iPad but it’s more like the Blackberry tablet but this Kindle Fire does not have a camera in it – so if you need a camera on your tablets than this is not for you.  But you never know when the camera would be included right?  like most new gadgets – we try not to buy the very first ones – because of all the bugs – that comes with it.  So i’m glad actually that it is not currently in Canada or will be anytime soon.  But yes – you can check your emails thru’ this Kindle Fire, read books, watch a movie or popular tv shows etc, etc.   So if you are on a budget – this is for you.

Gone are the days where watching a movie or a tv show is confined to the living room or tv room – these days – watching tv shows or a movie is in front of the computer.  Even my 7 yrs old watches Sabrina the Teenage witch on her very own computer -  she has had it since she was 4 yrs old.   Her friends think that she is darn lucky to have her own computer – but truth be told it’s because we don’t want to share our computer with her.   The spouse and I each have our own – so you can imagine the wires hanging around the entire study room and vacuuming has become harder – since the spouse loved his speakers and of course there are the wires for the routers and modem, printer, microphone – and all sorts of gadget that needs charging with a usb port.   So i finally decided to get some cable covers to help organize the mess – now I can vacuum and when I invite friends over to watch a movie with me – I don’t have to be ashamed of those ugly wires.

Some of my friends from home don’t see eye to eye with me – when i allow the kid to watch her movies on the computer – while i finish up my work on my own computer  – but I can’t really help it – else the kid would be so bored watching me type away or doing my little research work.  What about you?  do you let your kids watch a tv show on the computer?  or is watching a show confined to the tv room?  I think most ppl do that – the only ppl who can afford the luxury of not doing that are those who have lots of help with the kids at home.  So leave a comment and let me know.

Many of you may not know this – but some of us – needs to travel on a train for an hour to work and another hour back home.  Reading on the Kindle is what some of you may do – but I catch up on my chinese shows and drama on Youtube – therefore,  my acer laptop computers are the best investment I’ve made  – for it’s small and easy to carry and I plugged in my earphones on the train – not disturbing anyone – and catch up on my favorite chinese tvb drama and the train ride doesn’t seems so long.

I can’t type when I’m on the train – so the only thing I do – is watch my dramas and tv shows – I think by doing that makes my train ride a bit more bearable.  Some people who rides on the train with me – tells me – I get lost in my show – therefore, when I am done work – and going home – I rather not take the same train – as my co-workers – I rather go alone – and be left alone – instead of making some polite chat.   I see many people doing the same thing as myself these days on the train – and am very happy that even on the train – I’m able to get wi-fi on them. So if you take long rides like I do – invest in an acer laptop – you won’t regret it – it fits perfectly into my Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag.

The kids loved these game lapel pin and I’m out to get some for her summer day camp kids – as a reward when they are good in camp.  I remembered the first one that my kid bought and she loved it so much and wanted to get some for her friends too and we did buy a few for her friends.  These days – she collects them wherever we travel and she have them all in her book bag – her friends are so fascinated with the game pins that I decided that this is what I want to get for her summer camp friends too – they too can start a collection like I did when I was a kid.   I remembered I used to collect all sorts when I was a kid – and I treasured each one of them and had a story to tell to my friends.  I’m sure my kid is doing the same thing too – with hers.

We attended the niece’s graduation party a few weeks ago and was happy that she loved her graduation gift – lucky for us – we had some graduation presents ideas from a good friend.  Like all teenagers – they loved the electronics – the latest gadget would be good.   So we took the advice of her parents and bought her an e-book.  It was cheap too – at $199 and it was made bi-lingual – so pretty neat.  We could have bought her an iPod Nano or a digital camera – but we chose the e-book because she is going to college in the fall – and I guess it would be a lot more useful for her lectures and school work.  So if you are thinking of buying a gift for the nieces or nephews or even your own kids – or step – children – trust me – get some electronics – they will find it useful and they will loved you for it.

So someone asked me the other day – if I know where to find TVB dramas to watch on you tube – so that they can watch it on their  laptops notebooks when they are on the train to work.   You see – for some people – they take minutes to get to work – for others a hour or more on the bus or train – glad I don’t need to travel so far for work anymore – I used to when I was back home.  I can understand that it gets so bored just sitting there and doing nothing and watch people or pretend that they are sleeping – so one way to kill time is to watch our favorite shows on you tube.   Alas, I used to be able to find shows on you tube but these days its pretty hard -  but not impossible I guess. But as for myself – I haven’t found any of late that I can share – but if anyone out there knows somewhere – that one can watch tvb movies on youtube – please share eh and yes – although I don’t watch my movies on a netbook – i watch them on my laptop all the time.  Thank God for one of these inventions eh!  what would life be without them?

Many people had asked me about  video conferencing with me – and other fans of this page – just for a chit chat and also for talks about making money online.  I would love to do it – if I had a  megameeting web conferencing software that I read online – after all, no downloading and not expensive – definitely worth looking into I think.   So for those who are interested in making money online – watch out for this page – because I will be up and live for a web conferencing with those who are interested in participating in a conversation with me.   There are some telephone capability – that I want to look into as well – especially for those who wants to chat with me personally on the phone – The web conferencing software is not only for the big companies as you can see – even bloggers like myself – who has a fan base – can use this software to connect to all his/her fans – pretty neat.   I think it’s an investment that anyone can use – especially for those who have sales people or customers from another part of the world.  Wouldn’t it be nice – if you can talk to your idol or a star with this web conferencing?

While folks need to go out into the woods to hunt for deers – we only need to go as far as the outlaw’s backyard – they always have deers all around their home.   While we sit in the kitchen eating – we can see deers all around the pond all the time.  My father-in-law bought some  rifle scopes for hunting and it’s fun to watch him look at the deers and see which ones are young and fleshy.  My daughter who loves watching Bambi – would scream and cry each time Grampie goes hunting for some Bambis – hahhaha!! so funny !  so they used the rifle scopes to watch the deers now from the kitchen.  Deers are very tricky animals and they can hear you coming from a long ways.

Anyhow, a friend who was mowing our lawn told me last week he saw some deers on our backyard – so I’m thinking I should get some rifle scopes – so the kid can watch the deers when they come around – it would be a real treat for her and her dad.  I should buy the ones with the night vision feature – that way – during the summer – when they are out camping – they can watch the deers too in the camping grounds – now that would be fun!
