HONG KONG superstar Andy Lau and former Malaysian beauty queen Carol Choo actually tied the knot in Las Vegas last year, major Chinese dailies reported.

The official website of Clark County in Nevada which provides online search on marriage records, showed that Lau Tak Wah, Andy and Choo Lay Keng had registered their marriage on June 23, 2008.

After their secret marriage was exposed by the Taiwan and Hong Kong media, Lau, 47, finally admitted in his official website on Saturday that he and Choo, 43, were married.

He apologised to his fans for keeping his marriage a secret.

Lau said he and Choo had decided to get married because they wanted to have children. He said they tied the knot last year so that they would qualify for fertility treatment in Hong Kong.

He said he had kept it a secret to avoid his wife from being ‘chased after’ by the media, adding that he had planned to announce the marriage when Choo becomes pregnant.

The couple who had been dating for over two decades made their first public appearance when Lau came to Malaysia to attend the funeral of Choo’s father recently.

Another Hong Kong superstar who had his marriage exposed in the same manner was Leon Lai Ming, who married his model girlfriend Lai Gia in March last year.

Singer Miriam Yeung Chin Wah also married his boyfriend Gary Ting Ho Lam secretly in the city of sin on Aug 11.

Edison Chen, who announced that he was exiting the entertainment industry due to the nude photo scandal, is making his comeback in Taiwan. The 2 endorsements he accepted for September has broadcasted, and he’s even stepped on the cover of 2 magazines. He also said that he wishes to collaborate with Jay Chou & Jolin Tsai.

When Edison came to Taiwan during July to film a Levi’s ad, he became the media’s focus. Earlier, the ad was broadcasted, and the theme was ‘Persevere, never give up’; it seemed to convey Edison’s voice. This is also his first official endorsement contract since his announcement of exiting the entertainment industry.

The interesting thing is that the other female lead in the scandal, Gillian Chung has just renewed her contract with TOUGH, and the theme is ‘Never give up, never compromise’. Although the 2 have gone their separate ways, their endorsement theme seems to have a lot of tacit understanding.

Earlier, Edison also accepted an interview from ‘BANG’ magazine. He expressed that he currently spends 90 minutes everyday working out, and he has become fascinated with film production; in the future we may be able to see a film produced by him. Edison also expressed that he is a fan of Jay Chou, and also thinks that Jolin is very hardworking, and would like to collaborate with them.

In the Levi’s ad, trend guru Edison is still full of handsome-ness, but also gives off a more mature feeling. And he still seems to be wearing his Cartier ‘LOVE’ bracelet. Other than this, the promotional photoshoot for his ‘Adidas’ collaboration with Japanese designer Kuraishi has been revealed for the first time in a Taiwanese magazine. According to sources, this is because his popularity has comparatively not been affected as much.

Previously, Jolin worked with Edison in her ‘Mr Q’ MV, and their hot MV photos even caused her manager to take legal action, in order to put an end to the outside world’s improper association of the 2. Yesterday, towards Edison’s praise, Jolin’s manager replied for her saying: “Thank you for his praise. As for collaborating, we will wait till there’s a specific plan and then see.”

Instead she tries to get round every problem with even more patience and dedication, which however is not appreciated by TAK. The bickering continues until LAI eventually thinks of a good way to tackle TAK.
