Based on a true story.. it was quite a watch. Tom Hank and Julia Roberts partnering in this movie about a Congressman - bachelor from Texas.. and has very pretty girls all around him. At first.. he seems like a not so good congressman.. but it turned out that Charlie Wilson had a deep sense of patriotism.
Joanne Herring played by Julia Roberts is not only friend and lover to Charlie.. she is also wealthy in her own rights.. and anti-communist. A catalyst .. to what happened that saved the Afghan from the Soviet’s attacked.. Joanne pushed Charlie into helping the Afghan freedom fighters.
From a mere $5milllion.. he raised.. $500 million for them. Of course not forgetting the very ugly looking CIA agent.. Gus.. who might be ugly.. but he is portrayed to have quite a brain. A must watch.. good to know more about the american history.. and who or what moved the ppl.
