I watched this movie yesterday.. when i was doing my blood transfusion. But it is mostly because I wanted to watch Hayden Panettiere and Isabella Rossellini. I did remember Anthony Lapaglia but not very familiar with him. The rest of the cast.. i’m not too, too sure who they really are.
The story is about a black woman who wanted the architect to sign a petition for the high rise public housing that he had designed years ago, needed to be torn down because the building was not fit to live in.. and no renovation or artificial face lift to this public housing can save this building. On home front, the architect’s marriage was in trouble.. as his wife seems a little weird.. but unhappy about her marriage and wants a separation. His son is a college drop out.. who someone decides to befriend a black boy. . and had sex with him. In comes Hayden, who was too young to be hang out in bars.. but she did.. and was grope by some fella. It was a pretty good movie.. a “can” watch.

This was released more than a year ago.. and i just watched it today. The beginning of the story was kinda slow.. and i did wanna give up.. and stop watching it. But I did finished it.. and it was not too bad.. i’ve seen worst. Featuring an international cast from Hong Kong, China and Japan, Shawn Yue (Dragon Tiger Gate) from Hong Kong pairs up with Mainland Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan (Shanghai Dreams) in the film. Japanese model Takuya Suzuki, whose debut movie Love Undercover 3 is indeed a Hong Kong production, plays Japanese rising star Naoko Miyake’s admirer. Produced by the famous director Stanley Tong (The Myth) and written by the experienced playwright Yeung Sin Ling (Inner Sense), Love In The City shows how four youngsters in a small town overcome all barriers to find the greatest love in life.
It was quite a moving picture.. about a wife. .not afraid.. to lose her life to bear a child for him.. and the Japaneses part .. i didn’t quite understand.. because there was no subtitles for when they did speak in Japanese.. quite a bummer.. in fact on that part. But i still managed to figure out what they were saying. It was a happy ending.. which was good.. coz’ i was beginning to wonder if i was getting jinx.. since i was watching so many movies.. where everyone dies.
I do like anime alot and grew up with watching anime on our black and white tv. I can never fathom why my brothers would spend so much money on anime comic books but after watching one on tv.. i never turned back. But no one beats a customer of ours at the store. He would buy just about any anime dvd .. he can get his hands on. Therefore, Japanese anime are not only for the Asians.. the Westerners loved it too.
If I was a Manga character, I would choose Isamu Katsu as my name.. because in all anime, one needs to be courageous, brave and win all those fighting battles. And this is what Isamu Katsu means .. in Japanese.
