The first apartment that i lived in when I first came to Canada was in town and the landlord wasn’t even in the same area. One winter.. our water heater went busted .. and guess what he told me.. to do..?? TO MAKE DO..!! he said..!! for days.. i went without a shower.. and he was asking me to make do..!! Unbelievable..!! When we asked him to fix the screen door.. he claimed that it was in good condition when we moved it which was not true at all. And what could we do..?? nothing.. !! absolutely nothing at all..! we were at his mercy.

Now if we had Rental Protection Agency that would be a totally different scenario altogether. They have trained agents that will mediate on your behalf and make sure that the landlord see to a timely resolution for the maintenance.  No more stress.. and no more fighting with ignorant landlords anymore. A small minimal fee is worth paying.. to eliminate all the hassle.
